VID Specialized University undertakes education and research in the fields of health and social sciences, educational science, management, diaconia and theology. We offer approximately 60 programs of study as Bachelor, Master's, and PhD degrees. Our ambition is to become a university by 2028.

The Centre of mission and global studies at VID Specialized University offers up to three 100% positions as a Ph.D. Research Fellow in Theology for a period of 3 years.
The Centre of mission and global studies is the academic home of the Ph.D. programme in Theology and Religion at VID. It aims to nurture critical and engaged research on Christianity in a variety of contexts and on the changing role of religion in society. The centre focuses on the formation of leaders and academic staff in the global church. It is also a hub within VID for research on migration, transnationalism, and intercultural competence.
The Centre of mission and global studies at VID Specialized University offers up to three 100% positions as a Ph.D. Research Fellow in Theology for a period of 3 years.
The position as Research Fellow at VID aims at achieving a Ph.D. Degree after completed research training. An achieved Ph.D. degree is a relevant qualification for positions within and outside academia.
VID aims at connecting Ph.D. research projects to the activities of already existing research groups. Our research groups focus on research of high quality, cooperation with other academic institutions and academic publications in relevant research fields.

The successful candidates will be employed by the Centre of mission and global studies (Ph.D. programme in Theology and Religion) at VID. The program in theology and religious studies is intended to prepare students for professional careers in research, teaching, writing, as well as for leadership positions within religious organizations, NGOs and in educational institutions.

All project descriptions must be written according to the following template.
The project description must be maximum 3500 words (reference list, tables and all text included). Longer project descriptions might not be considered.
The project description must be written in English or in a Scandinavian language.
VID seeks to strengthen research collaboration with international educational and research institutions. It is therefore expected that applicants indicate plans for research visits abroad during the Ph.D. fellowship.

It is the full responsibility of the applicant to submit a complete application. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Diploma supplements for non-Norwegian diplomas must be included when relevant. Documents in languages other than English or Norwegian, must include an official translation. For applicants with an education that cannot be documented with Diploma supplements, confirmation of education, its content and grade must be provided.
A sorting committee will select the applications that are to be assessed by the expert committee. Please note that the project descriptions of applicants not selected for expert assessment will not receive a written evaluation. The decision of the sorting committee will not be made public.
The expert committee will assess applicants based on competence, relevance to the call, and the quality of the project description. Emphasis will also be placed on the interview conducted with shortlisted applicants.
Applicants must provide a list of 2-3 references that can be contacted in the event of shortlisting. Applicants invited to the interview must be able to submit certified copies of diplomas and certificates.
