IÉSEG School of Management - Lille Economics and Management (LEM, CNRS) invites applications for a 24-month fully funded postdoctoral position in Operations Management on its Paris campus starting in September 2024.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT  

Our department counts 10+ permanent faculty members from researchers to professors of practice, 5+ teaching and research assistants and post-docs, and several visiting and adjunct professors. Our faculty, academics and accomplished professionals, have a wide range of professional backgrounds in areas, including project management, supply chain management, transportation and logistics, data analysis and decision support, purchasing, and production. Research staff within the department are affiliated to the CNRS research laboratory LEM, Lille Economie Management. ABOUT THE POSITION 

Research will be a strong focus of the selected candidate. He/she/they will join a dedicated research team to conduct high-quality research and will specifically collaborate with collaborate with the team to advance research in the field of operations and supply chain management. To this end, the postdoctoral researcher will collaborate with Professors Majid Eskandarpour and Ronald McGarvey, and others at IÉSEG School of Management. He/she/they will receive regular mentorship and be expected to disseminate their research by submitting academic manuscripts to top operations management/operations research/supply chain management journals. 

The project may focus on the field of multi-criteria optimization with multiple stakeholders. In conjunction with other partners, we envision applications of this research in the domain of waste management. Nevertheless, the research may also focus on other interesting applications including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Urban freight logistics
  • Healthcare systems
  • Energy generation

The selected candidate is expected to:

  • hold a PhD in Operations Management, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline (earned no later than September 2021).
  • Have a solid research background in optimization of logistics systems, exact methods for mathematical programming, metaheuristics, multi-objective methods, and machine learning techniques
  • have a proven research track record, including journal publications/submissions in leading journals.
  • provide evidence of proficiency in programming languages (e.g., C++, python) and optimization software (e.g., CPLEX, Gurobi)

In terms of teaching, the selected candidate will also be involved in some (limited) teaching activities in the Operations Management department at the undergraduate, graduate and/or postgraduate level. As such, we are looking for candidates who are fluent in English, as most courses are taught in this language. Professional experience and knowledge of French are a plus, but not a requirement.

WORKING AT IÉSEG

The selected applicant is expected to begin his/her/their assignment in September 2024. The appointment is for 24 months. Gross salary will be competitive with other European research and academic institutions. The researcher will be based in Paris (on the campus of IÉSEG School of Management).

RESEARCH TEAM

The candidate is expected to conduct research and write papers on research projects with the other team members: Professors Majid ESKANDARPOUR and Ronald MCGARVEY. Other members of the research team include faculty researchers based in the UK and USA. They have published their research in international journals such as the European Journal of Operational Research, Computers and Operations Research, International Journal of Production Economics, among others. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity to exchange with an international network of scholars specialized in the Operations Management domain.
