The Department of Design Sciences at LTH, Lund University, is recruiting a senior lecturer in Packaging Logistics focusing on Packaging Technology. We look forward to recruiting a senior lecturer in packaging technology who can complement our existing expertise and ensure future expertise within the research group. The position involves research, teaching and collaboration with industry and public authorities in order to bring about societal change and renewal through the development of knowledge and innovation. Depending on their qualifications, the applicant may determine the precise focus of the position in the field of packaging technology in consultation with the division’s management.
Packaging Logistics focusing on Packaging Technology.
This position is focused on packaging technology, that is, the technical aspects of developing, evaluating, testing, producing and distributing packaging for different products in different supply chains. Research in this area aims to explain, evaluate and apply packaging technologies and analytical methods to, for example, new packaging materials, different areas of application and different manufacturing processes, in order to ensure the functionality, sustainability and circularity of the packaging system. The subject also requires good knowledge of methods to evaluate packaging durability and the properties and applications of different packaging materials.

The extent to which the applicant, through their experience and skills, may complement and strengthen ongoing research, undergraduate education, departmental innovation, and how they can contribute to the future development of the department will also be taken into consideration.
The person appointed will be part of the Division of Packaging Logistics at the Department of Design Sciences. The division’s research group is an international leader in interdisciplinary research into packaging related to logistics, technology and sustainability. The division maintains a stimulating and international environment consisting of doctoral students, postdocs, lecturers and professors from many parts of the world. Research, innovation and teaching take place here, in an open and creative climate with collaborations within academia and with partners in industry. The division’s senior researchers have a good knowledge of packaging technology, but their primary research focus is on packaging logistics. The position will therefore play an important part in complementing existing expertise in the research group. You will have the opportunity to work with us to further develop and build up expertise in the field. A doctoral student will also be recruited for this work. In terms of resources, Lund University has advanced infrastructure in many areas that are of relevance to packaging technology. This can be exploited within the position, if necessary. The position is based in Lund, where you will have an office at the Ingvar Kamprad Design Center. The person recruited will contribute key elements in first and second-cycle education. You will be teaching a course on packaging technology and development and a course on packaging materials. We also offer the opportunity to be part of an established Erasmus+ network with internationally recognized higher education institutions, where there are plenty of opportunities to gain international experience in research collaborations and leadership experience.
