In less than a month since the all-star break, Judge has soared from a -335 favourite to his current standing.

If you think that’s crazy, consider the fact that Judge was actually batting below the Mendoza Line in early May.

Yes, he entered May 3 with a .197 BA and a .725 OPS. Since then, the numbers look a little better.

Judge leads the majors in home runs (41), RBI (105) and OPS (1.147). His .323 batting average is third in the AL, which means a Triple Crown isn’t out of the question.

Though he takes plenty of walks, Judge is always ready to pounce on a mistake pitch. It’s baffling that his league-best .689 SLG is below his xSLG (.723)

One nitpick on Judge is that he’s not a premium defender. But does that really matter? The odds, the stats and the pedigree of the Yankees slugger all say no.
