This two bedroom, two bathroom brick bungalow home in Scarborough has a sweeping backyard that provides ample privacy and has enough space for a home garden. 

The entryway to the home, located at 8 Willowhurst Cres., is welcoming and opens into a recently-renovated kitchen — a space that Realtor Vanessa Glen says is one of the property’s “biggest selling features.”

Glen says the kitchen was updated in 2022 when the homeowners installed new cabinetry, quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances and opened up the far end of the kitchen to incorporate an open-concept sit-up bar and dining room area. 

Plenty of private outdoor space 

The home boasts an expansive backyard with a shed for outdoor storage, a swing-set and lots of green space perfect for families with kids and pets to play. 

The yard backs onto Taylor Massey Creek, and offers a tranquil outdoor space. Glen says traffic is minimal on the block as the home is located in an area with many dead-end streets. 

“You just don’t see yards like this in the city much anymore, especially with the greenery and how large it is,” Glen said. 

She added that the backyard is a popular space for many prospective home buyers who visited the property during open houses, stating that a number of them were eager to see the yard. 

Basement has side entrance

A bonus feature of the home is that its basement has the potential to be used as a suite, Glen said, adding that the property has a side entrance with access to the lower level and another door above the stairs to the main floor that separates the two levels.

“You have just as much living space downstairs as upstairs and the height is really good down there, so there’s a lot of potential for the basement,” she said. 

The basement features two additional bedrooms— one of which is currently being used as a recreation room— a partially-finished bathroom and a large laundry area with an included washer and dryer.

What’s in the neighbourhood?

Glen says the home is on a quiet street and is conveniently located within walking distance to a number of schools including Manhattan Park Junior Public School and it has several grocery stores nearby such as Costco and Metro. 

The area has access to the TTC, is close to Agincourt GO Station and also near Highway 401, an option suitable for those who have to commute to work. 

The home is also just north of the Eglinton Avenue East and Warden Avenue area where a number of amenities are available. 

Is it priced to sell? 

Glen said the cost of the home is justifiable, as other comparable homes around the neighbourhood were sold for a similar price point, however, these homes don’t have a large backyard and are in a busier corner of the area. 

“I think we’re actually priced competitively based on what those two ones have sold for,” she said of the other recently sold two bedroom brick bungalows in the area. 

She says the basements in these two homes are larger and that’s why they sold for around $25,000 more than what 8 Willowhurst Cres. is listed for, but the yard space and kitchen in the home are incomparable to the other properties she mentioned. 

Who might consider buying this property?

Glen says potential first-time home buyers would like this property or someone who lives in a condo and is looking to upsize into a home. 

She also says the property could be suitable to downsizers who want to live in a single-level home. 

A young family or couple and those who have dogs would fit right into the home, Glen added.
