The synergy of popular culture among young Canadians is on glorious display this week. The release of “It Ends With Us” in theatres has propelled Colleen Hoover’s 2016 bestseller back to the top of the fiction list after an absence of around a year.

The sales boost is encouraged by rumours of bitter feuding between producer and star Blake Lively and director and co-star Justin Baldoni. The delicious discord has also made itself felt at the box office, where the film grossed $50 million (U.S.) in its first weekend despite middling reviews and a Rotten Tomatoes score of 58 per cent.
