After a three week hiatus from the top spot, the Montreal Alouettes are once again the favourites for the 2024 Grey Cup.
The latest: After improving to 7-1, Montreal is back as the Grey Cup favourites, overtaking the BC Lions. Back-to-back losses have pushed the Lions down to second place, but not far behind the Alouettes.
The Als have bounced back with two straight wins after suffering their first loss in nearly a full calendar year.

After winning 13 straight dating back to Week 16 of last season, a 37-18 loss to the Toronto Argonauts in Week 6 pushed Montreal down the Grey Cup odds table.
But the Als are back as the favourites following a 20-16 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders and a 33-16 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, with backup Davis Alexander nonetheless.
The strong suit of this squad is of course the defence. Regarded as the best unit in the CFL, Montreal sits at the top of most per-game defensive categories, including points (21.0), passing yards (230.1) and total yards (320.5).
The Alouettes have only allowed more than 23 points twice since Week 14 of 2023, and only once this season.

Best value: Roughriders (+450)
The Roughriders’ surge in Grey Cup odds has been remarkable.
After beginning the year at 16-to-1, they now sit at +450 — the third-shortest odds.

The defence under new head coach and defensive coordinator Corey Mace has been remarkable.
Before last week, the Riders allowed the fewest rushing yards through the first seven games in franchise history (335) and have held their opponents under 100 yards rushing in each of the first seven games for the first time ever.
The Riders have also generated the most turnovers (22) and have the best turnover ratio (+11).
With starting quarterback Trevor Harris possibly back in the fold this week, Saskatchewan’s offence could be getting back on track.
