Premier Doug Ford’s pooping plea has made it to late-night TV.
During a segment on Thursday night’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” the American comedian brought up comments made by Ford earlier this month during a press conference in Mississauga in which he said, “Don’t be pooping on the beach,” while addressing rumours of people defecating in the sand at Wasaga Beach, on Lake Huron outside Collingwood.
Almost two weeks later, the comment has made it south of the border on late night TV.
“I love. There’s a lot to love there,” Colbert said as audience members laughed after seeing a clip of Ford’s press conference. “I particularly love how defeated he seems at having to say that out loud.”
Colbert ended the bit by doing an impression of Ford saying, “Don’t be showing your boobs to a moose.”
Ford and others have stressed that the rumours of people pooping at Wasaga Beach, which is the longest freshwater beach in the world, are not confirmed. At the press conference earlier this month, Ford said the province has given the beach $1 million to build more bathrooms and cover the costs of repairs and upgrades to beach grooming equipment.
